Construction Leadership:
- If you are interested in taking a larger leadership role on one of our construction projects, please contact our Construction Manager, Bill Dunphy, at bdunphy@h4h.org.
- Time Commitment: Varies depending on role (Crew leader = 1-3 days, House leader = a few weekends up to 12-14 weeks. The house leader's availability determines the schedule for most Habitat builds.
Committees:
- Time Commitment: Some committees meet once a month, others meet twice, but not all. In addition to meeting occasionally, there are also responsibilities and tasks, which vary by committee.
- Committees available:
- Construction: The committee strives to develop standardized, readily buildable houses that are simple, yet solid. The committee is composed of volunteer house leaders and individuals who may or may not work in the construction industry. If interested, please contact Bill Dunphy at bdunphy@h4h.org
- Family Support: The committee is made up of members who are assigned to and assist our partner families from the time they are accepted into our program and throughout the entire construction process. This is very important in ensuring that each family is successful in their new home. The assigned committee member then stays in touch with the family for at least one year following closing. During this period after closing, our Family Support Coordinator and the Homeowner's Association members reach out and connect with the family more directly. At this time, committee meetings are held the first Wednesday evening of each month. If you are interested in working with Family Support, please contact Gwynn Sterken at gwynn.sterken@gmail.com.
- Development: This committee is responsible for raising money to fund the construction or renovation of our families' homes. We partner with other agencies, businesses, organizations, faith based groups and many individuals to accomplish our goal. If interested, please contact Theresa Finney-Dumais at theresafd@h4h.org.
- Home Improvement Outlet (formerly known as the ReStore): Volunteer support for the Home Improvement Outlet operations is essential. We welcome volunteers who want to volunteer in the store or volunteers who want to work more behind the scenes with the committee to help with volunteer recruitment, marketing, advertising needs, and overall strategic development of the business. If interested, please contact Jackie Hermann at jhermann@h4h.org
- Site Selection and Development: This committee is responsible finding and acquiring building sites and pre-owned homes that can be renovated, as well as moving multi-development projects through the planning process. Most members have some familiarity with land acquisition, architecture, real estate practices, construction planning or development. If you are interested, please contact Sarah Teare at steare@h4h.org.
- Family Selection: This committee works with families that desire a Habitat home and apply to the Habitat program. Committee members review and recommend qualified applicants to the Board of Directors. We ask that interested individuals please make a minimum one year commitment to the committee. Meetings are typically held the first Wednesday of the month. The responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
-Attend monthly meeting (first Wednesday evening of every month).
-Assist with publicity to attract applicants.
-Review applicant files.
-Participate in interviews and home visits with potential partner families
If you are interested or would like more information please contact Lois Nissly at lnissly@comcast.net.
